Country Home Master Bath Update
This Carroll County family lived on seven beautiful acres in Sykesville, Maryland. The home built in the 1980s located in a pastoral setting with horses in view was in need of remodeling. Targeted as the first project was the master bathroom update. A complete pull and redo including a new walk-in closet was designed specifically to allow the beautiful views to be enjoyed.
Walk-In Showers and Free-Standing Tubs
The first thing that needed to go was the sunken tub. Perfectly stylish in the 1980s the tub was now an albatross taking up much room and certainly not easy to maintain. Also, the removal of the several steps up to the tub evened up the floor allowing for a much more accessible bathroom. Our clients opted to replace the existing tub with a free-standing tub. The sleek lines add to the transitional style and take so much less room. We were able to update this bathroom without bumping out of the exterior walls or taking any space from the master bedroom attached. What a beautiful difference this change made.
The walk-in shower was also updated to expand the area of the existing shower removing a wrap-around tile bench for a more compact floating bench. The dark tile was replaced on the shower floor with a neutral tile to coordinate with the rest of the tile in the balance of the bathroom.
Another enhancement for this master bathroom update was to replace the outdated double sink vanity with a more modern unit. Choosing a furniture piece as a linen closet was ideal to create a warm and custom feel. Furniture-like cabinetry is a wonderful way to customize any bathroom in your home.
