Coastal Style Kitchen

Blue Coastal Kitchen Island

For a fresh coastal feel blue is the perfect color.  Our clients made a move to be closer to the grandkids living near the water.  With this change in mind, they chose a coastal-style kitchen with white perimeter cabinets and a beautiful blue kitchen island.  Their existing kitchen had butternut-colored wood stain cabinets and dark countertops.  To create the coastal feel they longed for they opted for a Fjord Blue painted island, lighted glass front white cabinetry, and quartz countertops in Statuary Classique.

The home they purchased needed to be remodeled to meet their open-concept plan.  The kitchen was closed off by a wall from the balance of the house and needed to be removed.  Desiring a large, open entertainment space for the whole family the kitchen was expanded into a dining room and family room. This gives the homeowners a first floor that can allow for family gatherings and also group meal prep.  The dining area and sitting area allow visitors to enjoy conversation with the host as they prepare the meal.

Accessories For Organization

Our client wanted additional cabinetry so that they would have room for everything they needed to cook and entertain.  Belmont cabinets offered many accessories that provided the needed organizational space.  With drawers that pull out and a deep pantry cabinet for storage of all the daily canned goods and boxes of cereal, the homeowner removed the clutter of the previous design. Another great organizational option is the refrigerated beverage drawers. Grabbing a refreshing drink to take to the large deck off the kitchen to enjoy the natural landscape with ease.

An added bonus is the bar sink which provides an additional food prep area and also doubles as a wet bar for entertaining.  As you can see the lighted glass cabinetry brings a bright and airy feel. The white gloss, ceramic tile backsplash, and open shelving with blue-tone knick-knacks add to the coastal feel complementing the blue-painted island.

The corner sitting area in this coastal-style kitchen is great for a quiet cup of coffee and a book.   Or perhaps a space for checking the day’s news on a laptop all of which can be stored on the corner open shelving in this nook.
