Howard County Garage Addition
Historic Ellicott City homeowner adds some extra square footage to his property with a new three car garage and art studio. This two level, stand alone garage sits perfectly on his property and the building matches the primary residence, making it look as if it has always been there. The customer enjoys tinkering on old cars and so wanted a large garage to house and work on them.
He also enjoys painting and decided to include a studio with this new structure so that he could pursue his hobby. The wonderful light in this new studio/garage addition is great for his painting and drawing. The first floor garage required much excavation on the property to allow entry on the lower level. There are interior stairs to move from one level to the next and a walkway is being crafted to go from the main house to the addition.
The historic district in Ellicott City has many requirements that must be followed for building and the architects, Brennan & Company, were able to create drawings that met these guidelines. Owings Brothers was selected as the contractor because the client was able to watch them remodel another home in the same area and he knew they would be able to fulfill the county requirements, so hired them to build his new garage/studio.
