This cabin in the woods was transformed with a sunroom addition into a beautiful modern tree-house retreat for the very happy homeowner. Hardiplank siding with Boral trim was used, Marvin double hung, Magnum windows and a commercial rubber roof to give the home an updated face-lift. The interior was dressed up and finishing this retreat home are amenities such as a very modern Fire Orb hanging fireplace and a cedar wood Home Sauna from Canada.
At first, these homeowners were planning to replace their existing, rundown screen porch. After careful consideration, they called upon Place Architecture to help design an all-season room that they could enjoy for relaxing and drinking in the beauty of the natural landscape. This sunroom addition is nestled in a wooded lot and extends the home’s interior living space. The addition offers much natural light with floor to ceiling windows and transoms. The ultra-modern feel is crowned with the Fire Orb hanging fireplace.
Many natural finishes were incorporated into the design including a Brazilian black slate floor and Perennial tongue and groove wood ceiling to give that rustic look. This same floor extends to the outdoors completing the design with a beautiful terrace. The French doors when open to the terrace give the entire room a very open feel, almost as if you were actually outside. This 1960’s rancher has been redesigned and remodeled several times offering present day amenities and bringing the home into the twenty-first century!
